Construction safety management software is a digital platform that helps contractors report incidents, manage risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), complete site inspections and demonstrate CDM 2015 compliance – creating auditable records of safety activity across every site and subcontractor.

Why is safety software in construction important?

Construction accounts for more worker deaths than any other sector in Great Britain, and it carries a fatal injury rate around 4.8 times the all-industry average. There were 25 worker fatalities in 2025/26.

Falls from height account for 53% of construction deaths on the five-year average. That could involve scaffolds, edge protection, MEWPs, ladders, and unguarded openings – every one of them a recurring inspection that either happened or did not.

Notify’s health and safety software for construction brings incidents, inspections, RAMS, and actions into one system, so you can reduce risk and evidence compliance across every site and subcontractor.

Man responding to incident

How do you respond to incidents in real time?

You get the report in the moment, not at the end of the shift. With Notify’s Incident Management Software and mobile app, anyone on site – your own staff or anyone in your supply chain – can log an observation, hazard, near miss, accident, or injury in seconds, from any site, online or offline.

Alerts trigger immediately on high-priority incidents, so you’re in the know from the start. Corrective and preventive actions are assigned and tracked to closure, investigations run from one place with the team able to monitor progress, and every step is recorded in a full digital audit trail.

How do subcontractors report incidents without a licence?

They scan a QR code on site, and the reporting form opens on their phone – no app to install, no login, no licence. On a busy site, ensuring everyone is able to immediately report what’s happening around them provides you with richer safety data, helping to drive a proactive safety culture.

Reports are captured offline in basements, lift shafts, and rural sites, then sync when the device reconnects. Photos, notes, and location tags can be attached, so a subcontractor on their first morning can raise a hazard as easily as your site manager.

How do you manage RAMS digitally?

You build them from a template library instead of rewriting them for every project. Notify’s Risk Assessment and Method Statement Software lets you create, publish, and share risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) digitally, with version control so everyone knows which document to work from.

Operatives and subcontractors review and sign the RAMS for their task, leaving a dated record of who was briefed and when. Task-level RAMS cover the high-consequence activities – work at height, excavations, lifting operations, hot works, confined spaces and temporary works – and an update reaches every site the same day rather than waiting for the next pre-start.

How do you automate site inspections and audits?

Build your check templates and plan their schedule. Notify’s Audits and Inspections Software turns site inspections, safety tours, plant and equipment checks, and permit audits into recurring tasks with automatic reminders, completed on mobile and working offline where signal is poor.

Findings become tracked corrective actions with an owner and a due date, for transparency and accountability. And because completion is measured, you can compare project by project and see which sites are keeping pace and which need investigating more closely.

How do you manage work at height and scaffold inspections?

Falls from height account for 53% of construction deaths, and the controls that often prevent them are repeat checks. Notify helps you ensure safety inspections happen on time and are regularly reviewed. Scaffold handover and weekly inspections, edge protection, MEWP pre-use checks, ladder registers and covered openings – assigned, reminded, and completed on mobile at the point of work.

Defects become tracked corrective actions with photographic evidence attached, so the inspection history builds as the work happens.

How do you see safety performance across every site and project?

Put every project into one central view. Notify’s Safety Intelligence Dashboards bring incident, audit, risk, and action data together in one view you can filter by project, region, or hazard type.

In construction, accident frequency rate, RIDDOR-reportable counts, and lost time figures often go into prequalification questionnaires and tender submissions, so they need producing quickly. Alongside these sit the leading indicators – near miss and hazard reporting rates, inspection completion, overdue actions, and repeat findings by site – which tell you where to intervene before an incident occurs.

How do you demonstrate CDM 2015 compliance?

CDM 2015 asks duty holders to show what they did – that risks were assessed, information was shared, the construction phase plan stayed current, and controls were in place. Notify records each of those as the work happens, rather than leaving you to assemble a file when someone asks.

Duty holder responsibilities

CDM 2015 assigns duties to the client, principal designer, principal contractor, contractors, and workers, and each has to be able to evidence their duties. Notify gives every role a view of the same underlying records – assigned actions, completed inspections, signed RAMS and reported incidents – so accountability is clear.

The construction phase plan

A construction phase plan has to reflect the site as it is, not as it was at mobilisation. Holding it alongside your RAMS, inspections, and actions in one system means revisions, briefings, and sign-offs are captured as they happen, and the version on site is the version everybody is working to.

Site inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks

An induction or a toolbox talk only counts as evidence if you can show who was there. Capture attendance and digital signatures on site and link the briefing to the RAMS or the activity it relates to, so the record sits with the work rather than in a folder in the site office.

SSIP, CHAS, and prequalification evidence

Without SSIP accreditation, a lot of tender lists are closed to you. CHAS, SMAS, Constructionline, and SafeContractor all ask for documented proof that safety is actively managed, and so do most client prequalification questionnaires. If incident records, inspection histories, RAMS, briefing signatures, and closed actions already sit in one system, an annual renewal means pulling reports rather than chasing paperwork across sites.

Construction safety software vs paper and spreadsheets

Here’s what changes when you move from paper-based, manual processes to Notify:
