Job Purpose

As a Product Owner, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design and implementation of our SaaS products, aligning their development with market needs and company goals. You will manage the delivery of the product roadmap, guide backlog prioritisation, and ensure the Engineering Team’s work maximises the product’s value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence Product Strategy: Collaborate closely with our Product Marketing Manager to shape the product strategy. Your role will involve gathering insights from internal departments, customers, and market trends to ensure our strategy aligns with business goals and adapts to changing demands. While the Product Marketing Manager holds accountability for the strategy, your contributions will be vital in guiding its direction.
  • Roadmap Execution: Support and execute the product roadmap, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative functionality that meets customer needs.
  • Backlog Management: Create, manage, and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring that tasks align with the product vision and roadmap.
  • Product Development Leadership: Lead the Engineering Team by providing clear direction and guidance on product development efforts. Your role involves unblocking developers, answering their queries, and clarifying requirements, ensuring all tasks and sub-tasks are thoroughly vetted and documented.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and ensure alignment between product and business needs. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, gathering feedback pre- and post-launch to continuously improve the product.
  • Sprint Planning: Work closely with the Engineering team to plan and guide sprints, ensuring timely delivery. Attend and contribute to sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, show-and-tells, and feature review meetings.
  • Market Testing: Market test our products and feed insights into the roadmap and strategy.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on market trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to guide product strategy.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track product performance, gather user feedback, and iterate to improve. Follow the progress of work and address production issues during sprints.
  • Feature Requests: Triage and incorporate feature requests into the product roadmap.
  • Documentation: Write requirements and user stories. Be the contact point for product information, queries, and communications relevant to the delivery scope and progress.
  • Professional Development: Ensure continual development of skills and expertise. Notify will invest in coaching and training, and you are expected to be proactive in identifying areas for development and learning new skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Behaviours

Educational Background

  • A degree in business, computer science, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, significant relevant experience will compensate for formal education.

Work Experience

  • Years of Experience: 3+ years in a Product Owner role or a related field, with demonstrated progression.
  • SaaS Experience: Experience working with SaaS products is highly advantageous.

Certifications (Optional)

  • Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner.

Skills

  • Communication: Excellent listener with strong written and verbal communication skills, acting as a facilitator between business and technical communities, with the ability to drive credibility and influence both internally and externally.
  • Agile Methodologies: Proven experience working in an Agile environment, particularly with frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban. In-depth understanding of Agile methodologies, working closely with engineering/product development teams. Familiarity with agile tools like Jira is a plus.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working across departments, engaging with engineering, marketing, and sales teams, as well as stakeholders, is crucial.
  • Commercial Understanding: Experience launching new cloud offerings and technology products, with commercial acumen.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, allowing for strategic decision-making and prioritisation.
  • Market Awareness: Knowledge of market trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies, allowing for effective product strategy formulation.
  • Creative Thinking: A passion for generating and executing innovative ideas with a positive attitude to change.
  • UX Design: Demonstrated ability to incorporate user experience (UX) design principles into product development. This includes understanding user needs, creating intuitive interfaces, and mocking up designs to ensure products are user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and aligned with market demands.
  • Detail-Oriented: Accurate and precise attention to detail.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, ensure deadlines are met, and tasks are completed effectively.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust strategies in response to shifting market demands and stakeholder feedback.
  • Accountability: Holds oneself accountable for outcomes, iterating, executing, and pivoting at pace.
  • Collaborative Approach: Seeks opportunities and removes obstacles, fostering a ‘go-getting’ attitude.
