ISO 45001:2018 Foundation Course

The course helps learners understand how OHSMS techniques are developed and applied, and how the ISO 45001:2018 standard is interpreted and put into practice.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

• Understand the purpose and business benefits of an OHSMS
• Describe the structure and content of ISO 45001 and its link to Annex SL
• Explain the requirements of ISO 45001 in the context of an effective OHSMS
• Recognise the relevance of OHSMS standards to their organisation
• Identify how to develop or improve their organisation’s OHSMS and avoid common pitfalls
• Make better-informed occupational health and safety decisions

• Introduction to OHSMS and key occupational health and safety concepts
• OHSMS based on ISO 45001:2018, including the process approach
• Key requirements of ISO 45001
• Understanding organisational context
• Occupational health and safety policy and planning
• Risks and opportunities in the OHSMS
• Hazard identification, elimination, and control
• Operation, performance evaluation, and improvement
• ISO 45001:2018 requirements relating to worker needs, participation, and other interested parties
• Continual improvement of the OHSM

This course is designed for anyone who needs an introduction to OHSMS. It is also a prerequisite for those planning to attend the CQI and IRCA Certified OHSMS Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor courses.

It is ideal for managers, supervisors, health and safety representatives, OHS consultants, and others with health and safety management responsibilities, as well as anyone who wants to understand the impact and relevance of ISO 45001:2018 within their organisation.

On successful completion of the course, individuals will receive a CQI and IRCA-accredited training certificate (2336).
