Technology is changing how health and safety is managed, from how risks are spotted and reported to how teams share information across sites and countries. AI speeds this up, but quick answers aren’t always good ones. Without people who understand the context, apply judgement, and take responsibility, even the smartest tool can point an organisation in the wrong direction.
Safety professionals are also being asked to do more than ever. Compliance is still the foundation, but making change happen now depends on communicating clearly, persuading senior decision-makers, and bringing sceptical colleagues along. That’s especially true when introducing new technology, where trust has to be built before a tool is used properly.
In this first episode of the International Health & Safety Journal’s Leaders in Safety series, IHSJ Editor Mark Glover talks with Duncan Davies, CEO of Notify Technology. They discuss where AI adds value and where human oversight can’t be replaced. They also cover how to get new safety solutions adopted, how multilingual tools can involve every worker in a global workforce, and what the next generation of safety professionals will expect from the role.
