CUSTOMER SUCCESS STORY: NOTIFY & HIGGIDY
The Higgidy Family Kitchen are all about making glorious everyday food to help people live well. It’s all about putting heart into food and soul into business (because good food is about more than just fuel and function and good business is about more than just profit and numbers).
“Notify has a good support team and onboarding process. The Notify system has a very transparent functionality, which is simple, easy to use but behind the scenes it has that additional analysis function which is really good.”

Q&A with Dominic Mackonochie, Higgidy
What were the issues you faced before onboarding Notify?
We are a £30 million a year business and we were using a system that didn’t really fit our needs. I felt that the risks within the business are significant and we needed a system with more functionality.
I thought it would be an ideal system to install across the business. I liked the fact that multiple reports could be generated because we have around 70-90 people on site. The site is across a large footprint, so I felt Notify would be a good system to put in place.
Were there any specific problems you were looking to solve?
A general wish to improve our position in regard to health and safety and to formalise our reporting. We were looking to build a structured reporting process.
How did you find Notify?
My Line Manager said that Notify had previously been in touch with Higgidy so I touched base with Queen and took it from there, we’ve been with Notify for 6 months now – so far so good!
Why did you choose Notify over other web and app based solutions?
Simplicity of use from a user perspective. Anyone who wants to report, you don’t need to give them any training, they can just follow the logical steps of the report and I can then oversee the incoming reports. If there’s anything that doesn’t look quite right I can then go back to the reporter and discuss it further with them.
How was the transition from your previous system to Notify?
It has been absolutely fine with no issues, everyone is well versed in how to use the Notify system.
As a result of the data that’s generated from the accidents and near misses, we have a weekly meeting where we can spot trends and identify where particular problems are in the business which is all very good.
How well has the rest of team adapted?
The team has adapted just fine. Here we have English as a second language in some parts of the business, there is a good understanding of how to use Notify and its quite straight forward.
Have you seen any improvements with safety culture yet?
We talk about accidents and near misses with the Leadership Team here in our morning meetings, they’re the first things that are discussed, so as and when any issues come up there’s full visibility to the management team so it’s very good.
How has support been from Notify?
Very good. As I’m very busy I just want something that works well and is easy to understand. We’ve tweaked the system to our needs and that has gone very well, there was only a minor issue with email templates but that has been resolved. If we need support, somebody from the Notify team jumps onto it straight away and they are all very helpful.
Has Notify helped you save time?
Yes its simple and straight forward to use.
Has Notify been useful for compliance?
Yes, Notify has been helpful for ensuring that we can effectively report issues, generate corrective actions and make the required improvements.
I like the PDF function where you can see the whole report; the investigation and actions. Another great feature is the ability to assign actions to others. We don’t have that many accidents here, but still its’ really good to have all this functionality available to us.
What would you say to someone considering Notify?
Notify has a good support team and onboarding process. The Notify system has a very transparent functionality, which is simple, easy to use but behind the scenes it has that additional analysis function which is really good.
